Dr. Rosalba Laredo was born and raised in Cuernavaca, Mexico. She has worked for the last thirty years at major public and private television stations in Mexico as well as for Telemundo-Miami, Dr. Laredo’s articles related to the union activity in Mexico City are published in the magazine “Information Workers of Paco Ignacio Taibo II” She currently participates in a three union-employer bargaining commission of the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos. Dr. Laredo has been a radio scriptwriter of a special program focused on the social problems of the precarious labor markets in the marginal zones of the Mexico City. She was the producer / director of the video documentary of the Special Prosecutor’s Office in charge of exposing and responding to the attack against presidential candidate Luis Donaldo Colosio. Dr. Laredo was a Director at the public television station of the State of Morelos where she created a series of programs documenting the independent offices of citizenship. In recent years she served as Director of the Faculty of Arts of the Public University of the State of Morelos and created and occupied the first Chair of Television Production, focusing on social and artistic concerns. In that capacity, Dr. Laredo was responsible for the first live broadcasts, via the Internet, at the Morelos State University. During this period, she promoted her university’s concerns and programs to combat the escalating violence in Cuernavaca and throughout Mexico. Dr. Laredo’s doctoral thesis explored the history, influences and significance of internet and social media speech as a niche opportunity for emerging social movements.
